Team Algae Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool Algae Embroidered Baseball Snapback Hat

The "Team Algae" hat humorously references the unexpected greening of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, a recent incident that sparked widespread discussion and even protests. What began as a multi-million dollar renovation project, intended to make the pool "American flag blue," quickly saw the iconic landmark turn a vibrant green due to an aggressive algae bloom. This phenomenon, dubbed "New Pond Syndrome" by experts, is often caused by warm, stagnant, nutrient-rich water and ample sunlight—conditions readily found in the shallow reflecting pool, especially during Washington D.C.'s hot summers. The phrase "Team Algae" emerged as a playful, yet poignant, commentary on nature's persistent presence and the challenges of controlling natural processes in human-made environments, even on such a prominent national symbol.

This comfortable and stylish baseball cap offers a way to join "Team Algae" with its embroidered design. It's a versatile accessory for anyone who appreciates a touch of wit and a nod to current events, all while enjoying a classic fit and lasting comfort.
