Welcome to Script Hats

Hello, my name is Richard, founder of Script Hats, and I’ve loved hats for as long as I can remember. Growing up in California in the 90s, I wore baseball hats constantly. I was (and still am) a huge Los Angeles Raiders fan, and back then sports script hats were everywhere — clean city names in a simple type font paired with smooth, handwritten script lettering.

That look stuck with me. It wasn’t loud. It was confident. It just felt right.

A Style With Real Roots

Script hats didn’t come out of nowhere. Their popularity began building in the 1980s and became iconic in pop culture — like the classic Chicago Bears script hat seen in Christmas Vacation. But for me (and for a whole generation), the style truly exploded in the 90s, especially in California.

Artists like Dr. Dre and Eazy-E made the Raiders script hat a cultural staple. Alongside script, Old English and clean text-only hats became a signature West Coast look. Simple fonts. Strong statements. No distractions.

Script Hats was created to bring that classic, text-forward style back — done right. We focus on hats that feel authentic, not trendy.

Every design is inspired by the hats I loved growing up — the ones I had to have.
